Polish Media Regulator KRRiT Submits 2025 Activity Report to Government

The National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) delivered its 2025 activity report, along with an information note on fundamental radio‑television problems, to the Marshals of the Sejm and Senate, the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister. The document outlines the regulator’s work amid legal turbulence surrounding the de‑facto liquidation of public media and political pressure on KRRiT. It highlights the decline in viewership of public TV channels, issues with partisan representation in public broadcasting, and criticism of a proposed media law that the Council believes would undermine its institutional standing. The report also notes KRRiT’s monitoring of the presidential election campaign, citing a lack of impartiality and pluralism, and describes actions taken during the campaign debate and related complaints. In 2025 the Council received over 18,000 complaints, initiating 379 investigations mainly concerning informational programmes, protection of minors, vulgarity, hate speech and hidden advertising. Additionally, the report lists licences granted: eight new satellite licences, twenty renewal licences and eighteen cable‑network licences, as well as six new local radio licences.
