Polish MEP seeks identification of Brazilian women wearing PT symbols

Polish Member of the European Parliament Dominik Tarczyński has drawn attention for posting photos of two Brazilian women on X (formerly Twitter) and requesting that followers provide information about their identities. The women were photographed in front of the Consulate-General of Brazil in Warsaw during the first round of the 2026 Brazilian elections, wearing red accessories and symbols associated with the Workers' Party (PT).

Tarczyński, a right-wing politician, did not provide a formal reason for seeking the women's identities or specify how the information would be used. His post, which included the word “URGENT” in Polish, exposed the individuals to public scrutiny. Prior to the post, Tarczyński had congratulated Flávio Bolsonaro on the election results, stating that Brazil would soon be “free of communists.”

While Polish law prohibits organizations that promote totalitarian regimes such as communism, legal experts note that the constitution governs political parties and organizations rather than individual expressions of political opinion or the use of specific symbols by private citizens.
