Polish military tests drone defenses and mobilization readiness

The Polish military is increasingly focusing on practical battlefield adaptations and readiness testing. During preparations for the August 15, 2026, parade in Warsaw, various pieces of equipment were observed featuring protective cages and spatial shields. Military expert Andrzej Kiński clarified that these are not yet official standards but are active tests designed to counter FPV drones, drawing lessons from the conflict in Ukraine.

Parallel to these technical adaptations, discussions regarding mobilization readiness have intensified. Former Deputy Defense Minister Tomasz Szatkowski has advocated for unannounced readiness tests, suggesting that high-level military leadership may be hesitant to undergo such scrutiny. He emphasized that true preparedness must be measured through logistical pressure and surprise rather than through parades or theoretical tables. This follows political calls, such as those from Sławomir Mentzen, to conduct trial mobilizations of specific brigades to identify potential bottlenecks in reserve deployment and supply chains.
