Polish municipalities auction decommissioned buses

Local governments in Poland are conducting auctions to sell decommissioned municipal buses.

The municipality of Majdan Królewski has announced an oral auction for a 2005 Autosan Tramp bus. The vehicle, which has 42 seats and over 359,000 km on the odometer, has a starting price of 12,000 PLN. The auction is scheduled for August 17, 2026, and requires a 1,200 PLN deposit. While the bus has valid insurance, it lacks a current technical inspection.

In Kielce, the Municipal Transport Authority (ZTM) is launching a third attempt to sell its remaining fleet of Solaris buses, which were replaced by electric models. Following an unsuccessful second auction, the city has reduced the starting prices by 25 percent to attract buyers. Prices now range from approximately 13,000 PLN to over 36,000 PLN. If the August 18 auction fails, the city may further reduce prices or scrap the vehicles. Previously, five buses from Kielce were sold to a foundation for use in the partner city of Vinnytsia, Ukraine.
