Polish municipalities increase support for S46 expressway concept

Local governments in Poland are increasingly supporting the concept of the S46 expressway, referred to as the ‘Szlak Staropolski’ (Old Polish Trail). A growing list of 18 official documents, including resolutions, appeals, and positions, has been issued by various municipalities and institutions to urge the inclusion of this route in the Government Program for the Construction of National Roads.

Key supporters include cities and regions such as Częstochowa, Opole, Kluczbork, and Kielce. Notably, the Nysa City Council passed a resolution proposing a specific route connecting Kudowa-Zdrój, Kłodzko, Bardo, Paczków, Otmuchów, Nysa, Opole, Kluczbork/Olesno, Częstochowa, and Kielce. The Nysa County Council has also issued an appeal to include the project in national road plans through 2030, with a perspective extending to 2033.

It is important to note that these proposed routes are social concepts and initiatives from local authorities rather than official designs approved or prepared by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA).
