Polish municipalities invest in new civil defense warehouses

Local authorities in Poland are investing in civil defense infrastructure to enhance regional crisis management capabilities.

In Rawicz, an agreement was signed for the construction of a County Population Protection and Civil Defense Warehouse. The project, valued at approximately 4.65 million PLN, was awarded to the local firm Hurst Generalny Wykonawca Sp. z o. o. The facility will include comprehensive electrical, water, heating, and ventilation systems to store essential equipment such as power generators, water pumps, flood protection gear, and emergency communication supplies. Completion is expected by the end of 2026.

In Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, a warehouse for population protection and civil defense is being established within a municipal market hall. Funded by a 1.5 million PLN state grant, the project involves repurposing a market hall to store long-term food supplies, water, mattresses, and beds. This facility is intended to support responses to both armed conflicts and extreme weather anomalies. Construction is slated for completion by late 2024.
