Polish municipalities launch asbestos removal programs

Local governments in Poland are implementing programs to remove and dispose of asbestos-containing materials to improve environmental quality and public health.

In Gmina Stary Lubotyń, an agreement has been signed to remove, transport, and neutralize 109 tons of asbestos products, specifically asbestos-cement roof coverings, in 2026. The project is co-financed by the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Warsaw, with a total cost of 59,187.00 PLN and a subsidy of 29,617.00 PLN.

In Szlichtyngowa, the Mayor has announced a call for applications for asbestos removal funding for the 2026-2027 period. Property owners interested in covering the costs of dismantling, collecting, transporting, and neutralizing asbestos waste must submit applications by September 17, 2026. This initiative is part of a national program supported by the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Zielona Góra.
