Poland asbestos removal subsidies
Overview
Poland is accelerating its nationwide effort to eliminate asbestos waste by 2032. In mid‑July, the city of Poznań launched an additional recruitment round for its asbestos‑removal program, while the nearby municipality of Godów introduced a grant of up to 1,500 zł per tonne for roof‑level asbestos removal.
By early August, the scope of subsidies had broadened considerably. Municipalities across the country began offering grants that could cover up to 100 % of removal costs, with some households eligible for as much as 7,000 PLN. The Regional Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Toruń pledged up to 95 % of qualified expenses, capped at 760 PLN per tonne. Towns such as Gdańsk and the gmina of Koronowo set application windows from early August to the end of October 2026. In the Kuyavian‑Pomeranian region, approximately 470,000 tons of asbestos‑containing waste remain, of which about 140,000 tons have been cleared. In Koronowo, current disposal rates of 200 tons annually suggest full clearance may take another decade.
New local programs in Kartuzy and Świdnica have also commenced. Kartuzy offers coverage for up to 100 percent of dismantling, transport, and disposal costs for individuals and entities through September 30, 2026, though applicants previously supported by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan are excluded. In Świdnica, a reimbursement model provides up to 80 percent of costs, capped at 5,000 PLN for individuals and 7,000 PLN for entrepreneurs, with applications running from August 10 to September 30, 2026. Homeowners may also utilize the “Clean Air” programme and thermal‑renovation tax relief of up to 53,000 PLN.
