Polish municipalities modernize street lighting with LED technology

Municipalities in Poland are advancing infrastructure modernization through the replacement of traditional sodium lamps with energy-efficient LED lighting to reduce costs and environmental impact.

In Milanówek, work is underway on Królewska Street as part of a broader municipal lighting modernization project. This initiative is co-financed by the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (WFOŚiGW), allowing the town to upgrade to modern solutions without excessive strain on the operating budget. The project aims to reduce the town's carbon footprint and lower electricity bills.

In Białystok, modernization efforts are continuing near Ciołkowskiego and Zaułek Podlaskiego streets. The project involves replacing 382 lamps with LED fixtures at a cost of approximately 400,000 PLN. Deputy President Tomasz Klim noted that the LEDs are more environmentally friendly and efficient, leading to municipal savings. This is part of a long-term program that saw over 6,900 fixtures replaced in Białystok during 2024-2025. These upgrades are intended to improve road safety by providing better visibility for pedestrians and drivers, while also acting as a deterrent to crime.
