Polish municipalities roll out new waste‑collection rules for 2026
From July 2026 several Polish local authorities are changing how waste is collected and processed. The Gmina of Tuplice opened a preliminary call for applications to fund asbestos removal on municipal properties, with submissions due 10 July 2026.
In Bielsko‑Biała the city council approved unified opening hours for its three selective waste‑collection points (PSZOK), operating weekdays 07:00‑19:00 and Saturdays 06:30‑14:00, with reduced winter hours.
The Communal Union of Leszczyński Region introduced a limit on free tire disposal at PSZOKs: eight tyres per year for single‑family homes and eight tyres per five residents in multi‑family buildings. Exceeding the limit will require private disposal.
Municipal waste‑handling fees are being increased to 42 zł per person per month (39 zł for households that compost bio‑waste) to cover rising collection, processing and energy‑costs and to close a projected 2 million‑zł budget shortfall.
A ban on placing bio‑waste in any bags, including biodegradable ones, takes effect across the Leszczyński region. Violations may trigger higher waste fees, and an additional bio‑waste collection service is being organised for the Gostyń area.
Between 1 July and 9 December 2026 the Gmina of Świdnica will run a large‑item waste collection programme, taking furniture, appliances, tyres and other bulky items by appointment according to a published schedule.
