Polish municipalities tighten transport rules with summer e‑scooter ban and demand‑response bus stops

A popular Polish resort city has enforced a seasonal ban on electric scooters and bicycles in its most crowded tourist zones from 1 May to 30 September. Violations can result in fines up to 5,000 zł, and city police have already issued 94 tickets since the ban began. The municipality also introduced geofencing technology that can automatically slow or disable scooters that enter prohibited areas.

Separately, the town of Czechowice‑Dziedzice will introduce "on‑demand" bus stops on 1 June 2026. Twenty‑six low‑traffic stops – about 14 % of the network – will only be served when a passenger signals a stop request, aiming to shorten travel times and improve punctuality. The system mirrors similar demand‑responsive measures already used in several Polish cities.
