Polish officials warn of Russian provocations and political tension
Polish officials and religious leaders are warning against the politicization of a recent crime involving a detained individual, amid concerns that the incident could damage Polish-Ukrainian relations. Coordinator of Special Services Tomasz Siemoniak stated that authorities are investigating the suspect's background and contacts to determine if the event has deeper implications, noting that while a previous Ukrainian national was involved in an arson attempt in Wrocław, this connection may be coincidental.
Separately, Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski warned during a discussion at the Council on Foreign Relations that intelligence suggests Russia may be planning a major provocation this year. He noted the possibility of a false flag operation intended to provide a pretext for mobilization. Religious leaders, including Archbishop Wojciech Polak, have called for solidarity and urged the public not to let the actions of an individual incite hatred toward the Ukrainian community.
