Polish Olympic Committee faces financial chaos amid Zondacrypto scandal
The Polish Olympic Committee (PKOl) is facing significant internal turmoil following the arrest of its former head, Radosław Piesiewicz, in connection with the Zondacrypto scandal. Marian Kmita, who has taken over the leadership, reported finding substantial financial chaos within the organization.
Discrepancies include undocumented invoices and suspicious PR service payments. Additionally, a one-million-zloty donation from a construction entrepreneur is being contested, with the donor now demanding a refund. Financial reports indicate that between September 2023 and September 2024, out of 37 million PLN received from state-owned companies and new contracts, only 51 percent reached sports associations, while 18 million PLN remained in the committee's accounts.
Parallel to the institutional cleanup, questions remain regarding Przemysław Kral, who is linked to the Zondacrypto financial fraud. While there are claims regarding his potential cooperation with prosecutors, his exact legal status and whereabouts remain unclear, amid speculation regarding meetings between legal representatives and the individual.
