Radosław Piesiewicz detained in ZondaCrypto corruption probe FAST-MOVING
Radosław Piesiewicz, president of the Polish Olympic Committee (PKOl), has been detained by the Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime in Warsaw. The detention is part of an ongoing investigation into the collapsed cryptocurrency exchange ZondaCrypto.
Allegations suggest that Piesiewicz received a Patek Philippe Calatrava gold watch valued at 40,000 euros, along with luxury hotel accommodations and trips, from ZondaCrypto owner Przemysław Kral. In exchange, it is alleged that Piesiewicz offered to use his influence to resolve regulatory issues involving the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK).
Piesiewicz has denied the allegations, stating on social media that he paid for the watch in cash and that Kral merely assisted with the difficult purchase. Meanwhile, officials from UOKiK and the office of former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki have denied any involvement in the matter. The investigation has also been linked to the disappearance of ZondaCrypto founder Sylwester Suszek.
