Polish PM Donald Tusk says peace in Ukraine unlikely soon

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk told reporters in Paris that a cease‑fire or peace settlement in Ukraine is "little likely" in the near term, citing Russia’s intransigent stance under President Vladimir Putin. He added that Russia is expected to continue its war at least until the start of winter.

Tusk said he had discussed the situation with NATO Secretary‑General Jens Stoltenberg, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He announced that Poland will host joint military exercises with French and British forces this autumn, aimed at strengthening security for Ukraine and the wider region once a cease‑fire is reached.
