Polish police and border guards detain Colombian nationals for illegal work and violent offenses

Polish Border Guard officers in Bielsko‑Biała, Silesia, stopped eight Colombian citizens who were working without the required permits. The migrants had entered the Schengen area under a visa‑free regime that allows only tourism, not paid employment. The officers ordered the eight men to leave Poland and imposed bans on re‑entry to the Schengen zone for one to two years.

Separate police operations in Greater Poland Province targeted a 30‑year‑old Colombian man who repeatedly assaulted property and threatened a paramedic. After a series of incidents—including damaging vehicles on a national road, causing damage estimated at 6,000 zł, and vandalising a railway carriage—local officers asked the Border Guard to deport him. The suspect was detained, medically examined, and placed under police custody pending deportation proceedings.
