Polish police and schools launch child safety campaigns, from bike marking to nationwide safety week

In Żnin, police officers partnered with the local Media Expert store to mark bicycles with unique identification codes entered into a police database, a measure intended to deter theft and facilitate recovery. During the event they highlighted new traffic regulations that require children and youths up to 16 years old to wear helmets while cycling, noting that helmets can reduce head‑injury risk by up to 85%.

From 15 to 19 June, schools across Poland took part in the national “Week for Safety” programme. The initiative featured lectures on cyber‑security, digital hygiene, physical safety, mental well‑being and first‑aid skills, as well as a competition for first‑grade classes in first‑aid knowledge. Parents were also provided with educational material to promote safe online behaviour and discussions about safety at home.
