Polish police bust illegal cannabis plantation, seize >13 kg marijuana

Police in the Lublin region uncovered an illegal cannabis cultivation operation run by a 38‑year‑old man in Ryk. Officers seized 1,288 non‑hemp cannabis plants and 4 kg of marijuana, along with cultivation equipment. The suspect claimed the crop was intended for legal CBD oil, but expert analysis confirmed the presence of prohibited narcotics. He was detained, placed in pre‑trial detention for three months and faces up to 20 years in prison.

In a separate investigation, officers from the Criminal Police Department in Chodzież, working with a courier company, intercepted two misdelivered parcels containing sealed marijuana. The first package yielded about 4.5 kg of dried cannabis; further surveillance led to the arrest of a Belarusian citizen who collected a second parcel in Pila, where an additional 4.6 kg was seized. In total, more than 9 kg of marijuana were confiscated. The suspect has been charged with intra‑EU acquisition and possession of a significant quantity of narcotics, and the case has been referred to the regional court in Poznań.
