Poland reports various criminal arrests and road safety enforcement actions

Police in Poland have reported a series of criminal incidents and traffic enforcement actions across various regions. In Ruda Śląska, a 37-year-old man was arrested for a series of alcohol thefts from a discount store totaling nearly 4,000 PLN. In the Lublin district, a 46-year-old man was detained for allegedly setting fire to his father-in-law's barn and making threats against his wife.

Road safety remains a major focus for law enforcement. A fatal accident in Szkodna resulted in the death of a 9-year-old girl after a driver lost control on a wet road; the driver faces charges and admitted to not using proper child safety restraints. In Białystok, a driver was caught operating a vehicle under the influence of amphetamines without a valid license. Other notable enforcement actions include a 17-year-old being fined for performing wheelies on a motorcycle in Mielec, and a mother in Elbląg receiving a 5,000 PLN fine after her 16-year-old son operated an unregistered electric moped without a license.

National statistics for the 2026 summer holiday season indicate a slight improvement in road safety, with 4,691 accidents reported—a decrease from the previous year—and a 17% drop in fatalities.
