Polish police fine drivers for improper hazard lights and illegal parking stickers

Police in Jawor, Poland clarified that emergency (hazard) lights may only be used during a vehicle breakdown, immobilisation or danger. Using them to thank other drivers can be deemed improper use, resulting in fines of 150‑300 zł and three penalty points. Similar penalties apply for using low‑beam lights in poor visibility (200 zł and two points) or other mis‑use of vehicle lighting.

In Płock, a 52‑year‑old man who affixed damaging “penalty” stickers to badly parked cars was caught on surveillance video. He admitted the act, claiming it was revenge for illegal parking. The stickers damaged a Lexus, and the court ordered him to pay roughly 5,000 zł for the repair costs after charging him with property damage.
