Polish police detain drunk drivers after dangerous road incidents

In Wieruszów County, a 32‑year‑old motorcyclist rode without a helmet, ignored a police checkpoint, and fled, crashing his Yamaha. Breathalyzer results showed more than two promilles of alcohol, and a check revealed a lifetime ban on operating any vehicle. He faces up to five years' imprisonment and a fine of 10,000‑60,000 złoty.

In Legnica, an intoxicated driver with a blood‑alcohol level of about 2.5 ‰ caused a collision, left the scene, and was found with a dog in the vehicle. Police quickly intercepted him, secured the animal, and charged the driver with driving under the influence, hit‑and‑run, and related offences. He now faces possible loss of his licence, a monetary penalty and imprisonment as the case proceeds to court.
