Polish police dismantle car‑theft ring in Kujawsko‑Pomorskie

Police detectives from Łódź, after weeks of investigation into thefts of keyless‑entry cars, tracked the suspects to a clandestine workshop in the Kujawsko‑Pomorskie region. In the early hours of 21 July, officers observed a stolen Audi, stopped it, and a short chase led to the arrest of four men (ages 29, 34, 38 and 40). The group had been using the garage to strip stolen vehicles and sell parts.

Authorities seized the Audi, valued at about 130,000 złoty, along with numerous body panels and components from other cars. One of the arrested, a 38‑year‑old from Toruń, had been evading a court‑ordered sentence. The men now face charges of illegal possession of stolen vehicles (up to five years' imprisonment), vehicle burglary (up to ten years), and, for two suspects, interference with telecommunications networks. All four were placed in temporary detention for three months pending further proceedings.
