Polish Police Impose Up to 3,000 PLN Fines for Improper Phone Holders

Polish traffic police have warned drivers that phone holders mounted in positions that restrict the driver’s field of view can attract heavy penalties. Under road‑traffic law, if a holder obstructs the windshield, officers may issue fines ranging from 500 PLN to 3,000 PLN and may even seize the vehicle’s registration certificate until the device is removed.

The regulations do not ban phone holders outright; they require that any device – including navigation screens, dash cams or smart‑phone mounts – be placed where it does not impede visibility, especially at intersections and pedestrian crossings. Authorities recommend mounting the holder on the air‑vent slots or a dashboard bracket that does not block the driver’s line of sight.

Failure to comply can therefore result in both financial costs and administrative inconvenience for motorists across Poland.
