Polish police probe fatal road crash and rail collision killing two men

On 23 June, a 41‑year‑old driver who tested positive for methamphetamine ran a red light in Prądocin, Bydgoszcz County and struck a 72‑year‑old pedestrian, who later died in hospital. The driver was detained, his licence revoked and the incident is under police investigation.

Later that week, in the village of Nekla, Września County, a car collided with a railway draisine at a guarded level crossing, killing the 30‑year‑old driver of a Volkswagen. Emergency services, including a fire‑fighter helicopter, responded, and the crossing was closed while investigators and a prosecutor‑supervised commission examine the cause.
