Polish police seize illegal tobacco stock worth over 3 million PLN and shut illegal gambling salon
Police officers from the Municipal Police Command in Poznań seized massive quantities of untaxed tobacco products and e‑cigarettes in a multi‑site operation across Greater Poland. The haul included more than 100,000 cigarettes, 280 kg of hand‑rolled tobacco, 280 liters of nicotine‑containing liquid and related equipment, hidden in sea containers, a BMW, a commercial premises, an apartment and other locations. Authorities estimate that the loss of excise and VAT revenue to the State Treasury exceeds 3 million złoty. Two men, aged 17 and 37, were detained and charged with tax offences.
In a separate operation in Otwock, the Economic Crime Unit of the County Police dismantled an illegal gambling salon. Officers confiscated five slot‑machine units, approximately 4,000 złoty in cash, a mobile phone and a SIM card. The illicit gambling activity is punishable by fines and up to three years imprisonment.
