Polish police arrest suspects in robberies, frauds, drug and cybercrime cases

Police operations across Poland this week led to the arrest of dozens of suspects involved in a range of serious crimes. In Wałbrzych, officers detained a four‑person gang responsible for a kidnapping, robbery, car theft and burglary that caused losses exceeding 20,000 zł. In Kraków, investigators apprehended a fraudster who swindled an elderly man out of 160,000 zł through a telephone scam. Zabrze officers seized more than 3.5 kg of narcotics, including amphetamine and marijuana, from a 49‑year‑old man. In Ełk, two men were arrested after they assaulted a kebab delivery rider with pepper spray and stole the food. In Gniezno, a 37‑year‑old lost 80,000 zł after being tricked by callers posing as bank employees and security personnel. The “Kobra” unit, supported by CBŚP, recovered stolen vehicles worth over half a million zł and detained two car‑theft suspects. The CBZC crackdown on fake online stores resulted in 21 arrests. In Łódź, a large economic fraud affecting at least 12 million zł in the medical sector saw 37 people detained. Separately, a hacker gang involved in SIM‑swap attacks on cryptocurrency accounts was arrested with assistance from the FBI.
