Polish politicians face immunity waiver requests in Collegium Humanum scandal

Unofficial reports indicate that requests to lift the parliamentary immunity of Polish politicians Michał Kołodziejczak and Ewa Leniart have been submitted in connection with the Collegium Humanum scandal. The investigation is being conducted by the Silesian Department for Organized Crime and Corruption in Katowice, which has forwarded immunity waiver requests for five politicians to the National Prosecutor's Office.

Michał Kołodziejczak, a member of the Civic Coalition and former Deputy Minister of Agriculture, is suspected of obtaining a degree from Collegium Humanum through an intermediary, Bernard K. Reports suggest Kołodziejczak signed a contract in January 2024 and received a management degree in June 2024, shortly after enrolling. Kołodziejczak has stated that he obtained the diploma by passing exams and has never utilized it.

Ewa Leniart, a member of Law and Justice and former Podkarpackie Voivode, is also facing an immunity waiver request. Unlike Kołodziejczak, the investigation regarding Leniart is reportedly linked to a case involving Iwona O., the president of Uzdrowisko Rymanów S.A., rather than direct allegations of purchasing a diploma. Leniart has stated she is entirely unfamiliar with the matter.
