Polish government support falls amid South Hospital scandal

Recent polling shows mounting criticism of Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s government. A SW Research survey for Onet found 51 % of respondents gave the cabinet a negative rating, while only 27 % responded positively. Party support for the governing Civic Coalition (KO) slipped to 31.3 % – a drop of 2.8 points – leaving it still ahead of Law and Justice (PiS), which fell to 22.8 % and the Confederation at 13.4 %. The left‑wing Lewica gained, reaching 9.2 %.

Public opinion on the health sector is also bleak: a United Surveys/IBRiS poll for Wirtualna Polska reported only 19.5 % rating health care positively, with 73.1 % expressing a negative view. The scandal at Warsaw’s South Hospital, involving high salaries and subsequent resignations, prompted a SW Research poll for Wprost showing that 22.7 % of Poles want Tusk’s government to resign, a similar share call for the dismissal of Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski, and 14.4 % name Health Minister Jolanta Sobierańska‑Grenda.
