Polish Prosecutors Open Investigation into Attempted Poisoning of Presidential Candidate Karol Nawrocki
The District Prosecutor's Office in Świdnica has opened a criminal investigation after Karol Nawrocki, who was running for the presidency of Poland in the 2025 election, suffered a sudden health crisis during campaign meetings in Ząbkowice Śląskie and Dzierżoniów. Prosecutor Marek Rusin said the incident appears to be the result of an unknown substance administered to Nawrocki, causing vomiting, convulsions and a brief loss of consciousness.
Two separate criminal complaints have been attached to the case. Investigators could not verify all circumstances during the preliminary inquiry and therefore decided to continue formal proceedings, informing Nawrocki of his status as a victim. The investigation remains ongoing.
