Polish public transport fleets undergo modernization and international donations

Public transport fleets in Poland are undergoing significant updates through new acquisitions and international donations. In Lublin, MPK Lublin has added nine new 18-meter hybrid buses from Solaris Bus & Coach, valued at 32.6 million PLN. These low-floor vehicles are reported to be approximately 20% more fuel-efficient than standard diesel models.

The Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis (GZM) has completed the delivery of 73 new electric buses and 45 chargers to four municipal transport companies. This investment, totaling nearly 305 million PLN, is largely funded by the National Recovery Plan (KPO) and includes vehicles from Solaris and Irizar brands.

In a separate initiative, the Sikorski Foundation in Ukraine has purchased five used Solaris buses from Kielce through a public auction to support the city of Vinnytsia. The foundation has raised nearly 624,000 PLN through online donations to acquire decommissioned vehicles from the Kielce municipal transport authority.
