Polish rail operator PKP Intercity selects four bidders for 320 km/h high‑speed train order

PKP Intercity has announced that four consortia are competing to supply up to 55 high‑speed electric trainsets capable of 320 km/h. The bidders are Alstom Polska, a Hitachi‑PESA consortium, a Siemens Mobility consortium, and Talgo. The procurement, launched in December 2025, covers 20 trainsets for initial service and a maintenance contract for 30 years, with an option for an additional 35 units.

The new trains, about 200 m long, will feature first‑ and second‑class seating, silent zones, bar‑restaurant areas, accessibility features, family‑friendly spaces and bike storage. They are intended for the “Y‑line” network linking Warsaw, Łódź, Wrocław, Poznań, Szczecin and Berlin, with future extensions toward Prague, Leipzig and the planned line 5 to the Tricity region. Homologation will at least cover Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic and Austria. Offers are due in July 2027, with a decision expected by October 2027.
