Polish regional folk music festivals celebrate heritage

The Association for Local Development “Zamojszczyzna” is organizing the fifth edition of the “Festival of Songs of the Zamość Uprising”. Participants from the Zamość, Hrubieszów, Tomaszów Lubelski and Biłgoraj counties will compete in solo, duet and ensemble categories, with regional elimination rounds in September 2026 and a final concert on 17 October 2026 in Zamość. The event receives public funding from the Ministry of National Defence and the Hrubieszów County, and is partnered with the World Association of Home Army Soldiers, Zamość District.

In Niegosławice, the XV Święto Pieśni i Muzyki Świętokrzyskiej (Fifteenth Folk Song and Music Festival) gathered folk bands and soloists from the Świętokrzyskie region. The program honored local legends Kazik Krawczyk and Stanisław Mucha, featured performances by groups such as Kapela Edwarda Goli, Kapela Wyczyńskiego and Kapela Adama Kocerby, and included dancing, local cuisine stalls and cultural workshops. Organisers highlighted the event’s role in preserving regional traditions and engaging younger generations.
