Polish regional hospitals face financial instability and service cuts

Local government councils in Poland are addressing financial instability and service reductions within regional hospitals.

In Gostyń, the County Council session focused on the financial condition of the SP ZOZ hospital. Discussions involved the status of the chief accountant and concerns regarding a delayed repayment of a 1,345,800 PLN loan from the county budget. While there were initial reports of a missed transfer, it was later clarified that 1 million PLN had been paid on the scheduled day.

In Radom County, councilors are debating the future of the hospital in Pionki. Councilor Kamila Kaczorowska has appealed to authorities to halt the planned liquidation of the surgical department. The hospital management has proposed transforming the deficit-running surgical unit into additional beds for a care and treatment facility to mitigate financial losses, a move critics argue contradicts previous investments in the hospital complex.
