Polish Rescue Service Evacuates Eight Teen Tourists from Orlej Perć

On 29 June, the Tatra Volunteer Search and Rescue (TOPR) responded to three separate emergency calls from a group of teenagers trekking on the Orlej Perć ridge in the Tatra Mountains. The first call, received before 15:00, involved three young hikers near the Kozich Czub summit who were exhausted and soaked after a storm. A helicopter was dispatched, and the visitors were winched aboard. A second call at 15:17 reported two more teenagers unable to descend safely; they were also rescued by helicopter. The third call at 16:54 came from a tourist near Kozia Przełęcz who, together with two others, required assistance. In total, eight individuals—several of them minors—were evacuated to the Zakopane landing zone.

TOPR officials noted that the group had dispersed during the storm and lacked proper supervision and adequate rain gear. Police are investigating whether the adult supervisors violated safety regulations, as minors are permitted in Tatra National Park only under the care of qualified mountain guides. All rescued individuals were reported to be safe, and the incident concluded without injuries.
