Polish right-wing faces fragmentation amid Morawiecki and PiS tensions

The Polish right-wing is experiencing internal fragmentation as former allies clash over economic policy and leadership. Former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has openly criticized the Law and Justice (PiS) party, accusing his former colleagues of shifting toward a liberal stance and attempting to mimic his own economic initiatives through his ‘Rozwoj Plus’ program. Morawiecki stated that ‘a counterfeit will never be better than the original,’ suggesting that PiS is competing with the Konfederacja party on its own terms.

Political scientist Antoni Dudek noted that Jarosław Kaczyński’s dominance over the right is diminishing as Morawiecki establishes his own political brand. Dudek suggested that Karol Nawrocki, currently a highly popular figure, may emerge as a central unifying leader for the right-wing in future political arrangements, potentially playing a key role in a landscape characterized by minority governments and cooperation with the presidency.
