Polish Rural Women's Circles Mark 160‑Year and 65‑Year Milestones

On 13 June 2026, villages in central Poland commemorated major anniversaries of the Rural Women’s Circles (KGW). In Domaniewice, the 160‑year anniversary was opened with a solemn Mass celebrated by Bishop Wojciech Osial, followed by a program of folk music, speeches from parliamentary and agricultural representatives, and the presentation of diplomas and statues to long‑serving members. The event highlighted KGW’s founding in 1866, its role in preserving rural traditions and supporting village life.

In Trzcinica, the 65‑year milestone of the local KGW was marked by a Mass at St Stanislaw’s church, remarks from the wójt, the starosta and other officials, and a cultural programme featuring a folk ensemble from Poznań and a recital. A commemorative booklet detailing the circle’s history was released, and the celebrations were partially financed from the Kępno County budget. Both gatherings underscored the enduring social and cultural importance of KGW organisations in Polish countryside communities.
