Polish Survey Shows Shift to Suburban Living, Ranks Panama Top Emigration Spot

A survey published with the cooperation of the newspaper Bild ranked Panama as the best country for expatriates, followed by Mexico and Thailand. The study reported that 90% of expats in Panama consider their income sufficient for a comfortable life and most describe locals as friendly. Poland placed 17th in the ranking.

A separate Polish study titled “To my. Lokalnie 2026” surveyed 4,081 adults about preferred places to live if cost and work were not constraints. Only 8 % would choose a city centre, while 19 % prefer a quiet district of a large city, 17 % would move to the countryside, and 12 % desire a seaside location. Just 5 % said they would move abroad. The findings highlight a growing desire for peace, green space and reduced urban noise among Poles.
