Polish Tatra mountain rescue teams aid dozens of injured tourists in July

During the first week of July, the Tatra Volunteer Search and Rescue (TOPR) teams conducted numerous operations across the Tatra Mountains. The rescues involved tourists suffering from diabetes, injuries from falls, severe abdominal pain, and loss of consciousness. Helicopters were deployed from locations such as Trzy Korony, Dolina Pięciu Stawów, and Rysy, while drones assisted in locating a missing hiker. Notable incidents included a 7‑year‑old child separated from parents, two Lithuanian climbers rescued after becoming stuck on a cliff, and researchers from the Ice Cave who broke a leg. All patients were transported to nearby hospitals in Zakopane or transferred to the State Medical Rescue Service.

The coordinated efforts highlighted the range of emergencies faced by mountain visitors and the extensive use of aerial and ground rescue resources by TOPR throughout the region.
