Polish Territorial Defense Forces conduct drone countermeasure training

Polish Territorial Defense Forces conducted the ‘Testudo’ course from August 14 to 16 in the Legionowo district. Organized by the 54th Light Infantry Battalion, the training aimed to standardize procedures for light infantry soldiers when encountering enemy drones.

Participants included soldiers from the 5th Mazovian Territorial Defense Brigade and the 18th Warsaw Territorial Defense Brigade. The training covered responses to reconnaissance, FPV, and bomber drones using realistic scenarios and early warning systems.

Exercises focused on high-risk moments, such as movement on foot or in vehicles. A final scenario required soldiers to navigate a ‘death zone’ under constant drone surveillance to reach masked positions. The training emphasized that countering modern drones requires more than just jamming or shooting down targets; it necessitates effective masking, dispersal, and early detection to mitigate the shortened ‘kill chain’ caused by aerial observation.
