Poland military drone development and training

Overview

Poland is expanding its military capabilities and training related to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). In mid-August, the Polish Territorial Defense Forces conducted the ‘Testudo’ course in the Legionowo district. This training focused on standardizing procedures for light infantry to counter reconnaissance, FPV, and bomber drones through masking, dispersal, and early detection.

By September, the Ministry of National Defence announced plans to test domestic long-range military drones to develop ‘Deep Precision Strike’ capabilities. These tests involve unmanned systems capable of reaching distances of approximately 1,000 km, though the drones being tested will not carry combat warheads.

Additionally, the ministry has prioritized drone operator training through a pilot program titled ‘OPW with a drone’. This initiative introduces military preparation classes to 16 secondary schools, with the government covering 80 percent of the equipment costs for quadcopters to build a reserve of competent operators.
