Polish tourist injured in Slovakia's High Tatras, rescued by helicopter

A 26‑year‑old Polish tourist fell several metres in the Batizovská próba area of the High Tatras on Friday morning. The impact caused serious injuries to her spine, chest, upper and lower limbs and she lost consciousness. The fall also injured a mountain guide and his clients who were with her.

The rescue operation combined the mountain rescue service (HZS), a Ministry of Interior helicopter crew, and additional ground rescuers, including two HZS members with transport equipment. A medical helicopter from the VZZS unit in Banská Bystrica joined the effort, and after stabilization the tourist was air‑lifted to a hospital in Poprad.

Authorities reminded hikers to stay on marked trails, use appropriate gear and follow park regulations to prevent such accidents.
