Polish towns hold commemorations for 82nd anniversary of Warsaw Uprising

On 1 August 2026, communities in Jaworzno and Warka, Poland, marked the 82nd anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising. In Jaworzno, the program began with a historical lecture at the City Museum, followed by a flower‑laying ceremony in the market square, a live‑human formation of the "Poland Fighting" symbol, concerts by Zadyrygowani and Tadka Firma Solo, and concluded with a Mass at the St Wojciech and St Katarzyna Collegiate.

In Warka, residents gathered at the Jan Pawel II Roundabout for a moment of silence during the symbolic "Hour W" and observed sirens echoing nationwide. A city‑wide “War Uprising Game” sent participants on a historic trail through eight stations, recreating wartime tasks such as messenger routes and medical aid. The day ended with a concert and communal singing of uprising songs by the band Ferajna Bydgoska, with around 500 songbooks provided for participants.
