Polish towns Kęty and Bełchatów open new municipal housing for families and disabled

In Kęty, a new municipal block with 24 apartments was inaugurated, costing over 5 million zł and funded mainly by the Fundusz Dopłat of the Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego. Eight families will receive the first allocations, with the remaining units to be offered gradually. Two of the apartments are adapted for people with disabilities. Local officials dismissed rumors that the building would serve undocumented migrants, emphasizing its role for financially and socially stable households.

Meanwhile, the city of Bełchatów is converting three former service premises on Czapliniecka 5 into fully equipped apartments for nine residents with disabilities. The renovation, budgeted at nearly 500 thousand zł, includes barrier‑free design, new utilities, and furnishings funded by a national “Za życiem” programme and municipal resources. Social workers from the municipal assistance centre will provide daily support to the occupants.
