Polish towns launch free asbestos and e‑waste collection programs

The municipality of Kotlin in Poland is continuing to accept applications for the free removal and transport of asbestos‑containing materials from private properties. The program, funded jointly by the gmina and the Regional Environmental Protection Fund, covers all costs and will operate until the allocated budget is exhausted, with a large collection scheduled for September 2026. Eligible residents must have already removed the material themselves before the collection crew arrives.

In the neighboring town of Czechowice‑Dziedzice, a special vehicle will visit three villages on 23 May to collect used electrical and electronic equipment, including large items such as refrigerators and computers, at no charge. The initiative, part of the “Electrical Waste” project and coordinated with local waste‑management offices, aims to steer hazardous e‑waste to proper recycling facilities.

Both programmes are intended to protect public health and promote responsible waste handling by offering free, organized collection services to local residents.
