Polish towns raise waste fees: 1200 zł per plot in Świnoujście, 46 zł per resident in Dźwierzuty

In the coastal city of Świnoujście, the ROD "Granica" leisure garden announced a new charge of 1,200 zł per plot per year for waste removal after Remondis increased its rates. The garden will limit the number of containers, shift to bag‑only collection from June 1, and plans a special bag system to curb illegal dumping, which has grown into large piles of rubbish, bicycles, furniture and other large items. Authorities warned that the accumulation of waste creates a fire risk, especially in hot weather.

Meanwhile, the municipal council of Dźwierzuty approved a rise in the household waste management fee to 46 zł per person per month, up from 36 zł, effective 1 June. The increase is justified by higher collection and disposal costs and a decline in the number of paying households. A four‑person family could see its monthly waste bill reach 152 zł, though the composting discount of 8 zł per person remains unchanged.
