Polish towns to subsidize asbestos removal up to 7,000 PLN per household

Poland must eliminate all asbestos waste by 2032. To meet the deadline, municipalities across the country are offering subsidies that can cover up to 100 % of the costs of collection, transport and safe disposal, with some grants reaching as much as 7,000 PLN per household. The Regional Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Toruń provides up to 95 % of qualified expenses, capped at 760 PLN per ton, while towns such as Gdańsk and the gmina of Koronowo have set application deadlines ranging from August 5 to October 31, 2026. In the Kuyavian‑Pomeranian region alone, about 470 000 tons of asbestos‑containing waste remain, of which roughly 140 000 tons have already been removed. Koronowo disposes of around 200 tons annually; at the current pace, full clearance is projected to take another ten years. Homeowners may also benefit from the “Clean Air” programme and a thermal‑renovation tax relief of up to 53 000 PLN.
