Polish towns Świecie and Olsztyn expand municipal surveillance amid vandalism incident

The town of Świecie signed a contract to develop a new city‑wide monitoring system that will eventually include 33 modern cameras. The design phase, costing about 80,000 zł, is expected to be completed by November, with the total investment potentially reaching around one million zloty once the full project is approved for the 2027 budget.

In the city of Olsztyn, municipal surveillance footage captured a nighttime vandalism episode at a construction site near the High Gate. A man removed chairs from a nearby restaurant garden, threw them onto the work zone, and also tore down an advertising banner. Police and city guards, alerted by the monitoring operator, identified the perpetrator, imposed a 1,000 zł fine and required him to restore the chairs and banner the same night.
