Polish volunteer fire departments celebrate major anniversaries

Volunteer fire departments in Poland recently held celebrations for significant milestones. In Karolewo, members of the OSP Karolewo celebrated the 50th wedding anniversary of Tadeusz and Teresa, members of the firefighting community. The event included congratulations and gifts presented by fellow volunteers.

In Proboszczewice, the OSP Proboszczewice marked its 100th anniversary of service. The celebrations included a mass in Stare Proboszczewice and a ceremony where the unit was awarded the Golden Sign of the Polish Volunteer Fire Service Association (Związek OSP RP). Several individuals received various medals for firefighting merit, including the Bolesław Chomicz Honorary Medal and gold, silver, and bronze medals for services to firefighting. The unit, which has served the community since 1923, reviewed its history, including the opening of its first fire station in 1956 and the acquisition of its first fire engine in 1958.
