Political alliances in Bangladesh and Pakistan announce upcoming long marches

An 11-party alliance in Bangladesh has announced a long march from Dhaka to Rangpur on 19 September. The march, which is scheduled to begin at 7:30am from Manik Mia Avenue, aims to demand the implementation of a referendum verdict and justice for killings that occurred in July. The alliance also cited rising commodity prices, corruption, and shortages of electricity, fuel, and fertilizer as key grievances.

In Pakistan, an opposition alliance led by Mahmood Khan Achakzai has announced a peaceful long march scheduled for 27 September. The protest will focus on economic and security issues, including inflation, unemployment, rising petrol prices, and the deteriorating law and order situation. The alliance also expressed concerns regarding the health of PTI founder Imran Khan and criticized recent raids and arrests of political workers.
