Pakistan opposition alliance protest planning
Overview
The Grand Opposition Alliance, led by Mahmood Khan Achakzai, continues to coordinate a “peaceful and democratic” long march scheduled for September 27 to address political and economic crises, including inflation, unemployment, and fuel prices. The alliance remains focused on demanding medical care for PTI founder Imran Khan, condemning raids on PTI workers, and opposing the 28th constitutional amendment and potential provincial restructuring.
As the march approaches, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has finalized a phased strategy to reach Islamabad. The plan involves establishing sit-ins at 12 specific locations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Nowshera, Swabi, and Mardan. The strategy includes blocking major transit routes such as the Motorway and GT Road, with camps planned at sites like Attock Bridge, Haripur, and Abbottabad.
To support the mobilization, PTI leadership has instructed all national and provincial assembly members and senators to assist with arrangements. Local district organizations have been tasked with providing food, water, and necessities for participants. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi is expected to lead the march from Peshawar.
